Surf Shop

We carry the largest selection of LONGBOARDS in Canada, a great selection of Xcel and O'Neill wetsuits and accessories and have an excellent rental program.

Island Longboards is a shop with a difference - we are not a boutique store. We do not cross over into skate (you might find some longboards though) nor snowboard stuff.  You won’t find racks of fashionable clothing and shoes in our store; we do however have a selection of cool and original Island Longboards t’shirts and hoodies for guys and girls.

We specialize in Longboards and surf accessories and will help you select the right equipment to get you into the water and having fun.  You will also find body boards and skim boards for more fun at the beach.

Island Longboards is owned by Colin and Sabine Kearns, originally from South Africa.  Colin has Surfboardsbeen surfing for more than 28 years - the last 11 years primarily on a longboard or on a shorter fatter hybrid. While much of his experience was gained in and around the waters of South Africa at places like Durban, Cape Town and Jeffery's Bay; he is no stranger to the West Coast of Vancouver Island, an area ideally suited to Longboarding.

Colin has also traveled and surfed in places like Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico and Southern California.

In April 2007, Thore Tsutsumi joined the Island Longboards team.  Thore grew up on Vancouver Island and has been surfing for 6 years.  Thore has been a long-time Island Longboards customer, and it is great to have him on board.

Good friend and surf buddy Ed Brown takes care of all ding repairs, and also shapes his own boards. Ed has been surfing since 1960 and grew up in New York surfing spots like Montauk and the Jersey Coast. Ed spent many of his winters traveling to Mexico and Costa Rica.

Island Longboards caters to the needs of all LONGBOARDERS. We have boards for the very big guys, narrower boards for women and smaller longboards for the gromz. Whether you are looking for a classic shape with volan cloth, tailblock and multiple stringers or a high performance board, the shop will go out of its way to help you.
